A Day In The Life Of Me...During Lockdown! (Part 1)

So today I thought it'd be cool to share a day in the life of me during lockdown. I'm actually going to split this post into two parts - the first part, today, will focus on a work from home day and the second, next week, will explore a non-work day. Let's dive right in from the moment I wake up in the morning on a Monday/Wednesday/Friday...

I usually wake up between 8.30 and 8.45am. Even though my alarm goes off a lot earlier - I do love that 'snooze' button! I'll get up, chuck some comfy clothes on, brush my hair and my teeth before making my way downstairs. Whilst the kettle's boiling, I'll set up my laptop ready for work. I sign in to Teams, open and check my emails and return to my laptop with a steaming hot cup of coffee (not the last of the day, either!) And now the day can begin.

What I do for work depends on what day it is. On a Monday, for example, I draw up new posts for social media then get them posted or scheduled, ready to go live throughout the week. Wednesday sees me work on blog post ideas, and any other ad-hoc jobs that need doing. And Friday sees me checking in on Google Adwords and tweaking our settings, changing keywords, checking links etc.

I break for lunch, now my husband's home anyway. And we have half-an-hour together eating lunch and watching The Simpsons. Then it's nose back to the grind!

After work, I draft up some blog posts for the week ahead, and schedule some tweets to go live throughout the week to promote my posts. I usually have an idea of what I'm going to write about already as I plan my blog posts out a week ahead. It's just a case of getting it down on screen, so to speak!

It's time to eat! Hubby and I eat our dinner around 6 or 7pm, depending on when he returns from the pub. Oh, don't worry! He's not breaking lockdown rules. He goes out the front of our house every night at 5pm and has a beer or two with our neighbours (whilst practising social distancing, of course!) I meal plan for the week ahead, so it's usually just a case of grabbing everything out of the freezer and bunging it in the oven/microwave. Since the lockdown, we've cut down on takeaways and are eating at home a lot more. So that's one good thing to come out of all this!

Once we've eaten and cleaned up after dinner, it's time to relax after a long day at work! How I do this varies. Often it's with a game like The Sims 4, which I'm very into right now, or Star Stable Online. Other times, it's with a magazine or a good book. I'll usually spend a couple of hours gaming or reading before bed. If I'm gaming, I'm usually watching something on TV too. At the moment, it's The Simpsons on Disney+. Then it's straighten up the kitchen, feed the cat and the fish and off to bed with me.

Hubby and I usually watch something together in bed for an hour or so before turning off the lights. At the moment we're watching a comedy film with Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler. It's a nice way to spend time together and relax before sleep. It's lights out at around 0.00 to 00.30am and that's another day over!

My working from home colleague! He sleeps a lot...

Tell me about your typical day in lockdown!
