May Favourites!

Guys, I am so far behind with my blog posts right now. I totally forgot to share my monthly posts for May with you! And it'd be a shame to skip them completely, 'cos May was a pretty awesome month. So, let's start this week off with a few of my favourite things from May.

May saw me, along with my mother-in-law and husband, take on Chrohns and Colitis's 10k WalkIT in Bristol. All to raise vital funds for Chrohns and Colitis's lifesaving research and support for sufferers. We raised a lot of money, which was what it was all about, but the huge sense of achievement I felt for completing the 10k walk was phenomenal. So many people, I later found out, didn't think I would do it. And when we reached the steepest slope I've ever laid eyes on, I almost gave up. But I persevered, and I did it. So proud of myself.

Of course my new bookcase is going to feature pretty highly on my May Favourites list. We took a trip to Ikea in May, primarily for a new bookcase. We came home with one, and a new coffee table. This is, apparently, my last bookcase, which seems fair considering I now have six. Three upstairs, three downstairs. Anyway, it's almost like this space was made for this bookcase; it fits so well. I love it.

We spent one overcast Bank Holiday Monday exploring the quaint little Cotswold village of Moreton-in-Marsh. After a stroll up and down the High Street, and a peek in one of the little bookshops, we stopped off in a local pub for a bite to eat and a drink. Turns out the pub we'd chosen was the inspiration for the inn of The Prancing Pony which features in The Lord of the Rings! This meant a lot more to me than it did to my husband. I first read The Lord Of The Rings books when I was eleven. So I was very much fangirling over this. And it was the best day out!

Gin is fast becoming my tipple of choice. My local pub sells Unicorn Gin, which is just so goddamn drinkable. However, this cocktail, from Wetherspoon, was by far the best gin drink I've ever tasted. And isn't it SO Instagrammable?! This is the Bubblegin - a blend of unicorn gin liqueur, bubble-gum syrup, lemonade, and strawberries. Such a refreshing drink. There's only one problem; it goes down too easy! I could easily get hammered on these.

Another wonderful day out, this time with friends. Local to me is a camping/caravan park with a huge lake where you can float dinghies, rubber rings, etc. You can even rent kayaks/boats/paddle boards from them. I joined some friends for a morning, and we sat watching the kids splashing around in the cold water whilst drinking tea and eating cheesy chips. What could be better?!

My favourite photo of the month *heart eyes*. I took part in The British Heart Foundation's #Dechox challenge back in February. And as a reward, BHF sent me a chocolate medal! Of course, I couldn't resist snapping a photo of my cat wearing my reward for a month without chocolate. He's such a poser, and so patient. Naturally, he was a lot more interested in the ribbon than the chocolate medal, though!

Isn't this the cutest Easter present, from my grandparents? They know me so well. You can't go wrong with stationery and animals when it comes to gifts for me. This set is just adorable, and will come in so useful! I can't wait to start using it when my new Agenda arrives!

My favourite purchase of the month, by far. When I learnt that Aldi were selling Harry Potter merchandise, I was there like a shot. They didn't have much I wanted as it turned out, and all the bedding was too small for our king size, but I couldn't resist these three plush dolls. They now sit on my Harry Potter shelf, and are a welcome addition to my ever-growing HP collection!

Can you believe this poster came free with a copy of Your Cat magazine? My husband and I liked it so much, we decided to get a frame for it and pop it on the wall. It now sits on the wall above the cat's scratching post and it makes me smile every time it catches my eye. It's pretty spot-on too, to be fair.

That was a longer post than usual. But then, I had more favourites in May than usual. So I hope you'll forgive me this one time!

Tell me one, or more, of your favourite things from May in the comments section below!
