Life Lately: September Edition!

September is always my most anticipated month. It heralds the arrival of Autumn, Halloween is just around the corner, and it's my birthday month. This year, September also marked our first year wedding anniversary so, safe to say, it was a pretty awesome month. And now it's almost over. I could cry, but I won't. Because now I can start getting spook-eh. I'm going to dig all my Halloween decs out of the attic, go buy some new ones, and get the house ready for Halloween, bitches! Enough about next month, today I'm here to talk about what I got up to in September. Hold on to your hats, this could be a long one!

Doing...celebrating my birthday with a week off work. Hubby and I made the most of the week off by visiting my grandparents down in Clevedon, taking a day trip on my birthday to Cotswold Wildlife Park (AKA my favourite place on earth) and spending a day at the beach. We also celebrated our first wedding anniversary in September; one whole year of marriage! We returned to the scene of the crime, so to speak, and had a lovely meal at our reception venue for our anniversary. It was super nostalgic, as I kept finding myself thinking "this time last year we were saying "I do"," and "this time last year we were posing for photos." And on and on. I also got my nails done (but you're going to have to wait till October to see my new set), went Halloween decoration shopping, and hit up Primark and all the charity bookshops with the lovely Steph! It's been a lovely month; if slightly busy. very first Bath and Body Works goodies! Seeing as they don't ship to the UK, I joined a Facebook group of UK sellers. And after quite some time lurking in the group, I finally took the plunge and ordered a light-up unicorn antibac holder and Hello I'm a Unicorn antibac. I'm a total convert now. At the time of writing I've already placed another order for some Halloween antibacs, and by the time this post goes live I should have received them. Keep an eye out for the new antibacs in a Haul Post coming soon!
Reading...lots of great books. I'm working my way through my huge 'To Review' pile and I'm pleased to say I'm nearing the end! I read, and loved, The Craftsman by Sharon Bolton and Friend of a Friend by Tasmina Perry. I also recently finished Aaru: Halls of Hel by David Meredith, and The Woolgrower's Companion by Joy Rhoades. The latter two are books I wouldn't usually read (sci-fi and romance/history) but I'm so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone. It's always worthwhile!
Watching...too many true crime documentaries. I recently watched Unmasking A Killer: The Golden State Killer. Which was a fascinating insight into a totally evil but also legendary serial killer/rapist. I also watched The Cambridge Rapist, a case which hit a little closer to home. So hard to watch, but I'm fascinated with anything true crime related.
Spending...much too much time feeling sad. I find my birthday often evokes feelings of sadness and loneliness in me. I start to question everything and whether I'm following the right path. And then there's the inevitable slump when the celebrations are over. I'm determined to get over this, though, and just live in the moment and enjoy life! Who cares if I'm on the right path or not? I'm doing what's right in the moment, and that's all anyone can do.
Listening to...Linkin Park. They're my go-to band when I'm feeling emosh. Their lyrics speak to me.

My first Bath and Body Works goodies!

Gorgeous otter at CWP

A late night visit from a hedgehog, much to my cat's interest!

What did you get up to in September?
