April-May Book Haul!

I wonder if even one month will go by without me buying any books? Haha, don't be silly! Even with the best intentions, I always seem to end each month with more books than I started with. In fact, it's quite possible I'm buying more books than I'm reading at the moment. Things have definitely got of out hand. Here's the books I've bought recently...

The saga of this book box set. I wanted the Penguin Modern Classics Box Set from the moment it was announced. But upon it's release, Amazon sold out instantly. So I purchased it from a third party seller. Unfortunately, it went missing in transit and never arrived. I was gutted. And to make matters worse, Amazon now had it back in stock...but for £10 more than the original price! I told myself I couldn't have it and would put it on my birthday wish-list instead. A few days later, though, it came to my attention that the price had dropped back down to the original price. I didn't even have to think about it, I clicked Buy It Now! I'm halfway through this collection of modern classics, and although the collection is a real mixed bag, there are some real gems in here! No regrets here, to be honest.

Somebody needs to put a ban on me going book shopping with Steph in the future! I can never come away empty handed. I was so excited to find Zodiac by Sam Wilson in the charity bookshop. I've had it on my Amazon wish-list for ages, and it was a steal in the charity shop at just £2! I was so excited to see that Louise Candlish has a new novel out, Our House. And I've had John Marrs' The Good Samaritan on pre-order for what feel likes ages. So I'm very keen to get stuck into that one.

I'm really excited about this stack of books. Rupi Kaur's Milk and Honey has been on my wish-list for aeons, I've seen such good things about it in the blogosphere. I'm more than excited to delve into some gorgeous poetry. I've also heard really good things about Lionel Shriver's collection of short stories, Property. I'm on a bit of a short story binge at the moment. I love that I can dip in and out quickly and easily, and don't need to dedicate hours to the book! Jane Austen's Lady Susan and Other Works is a new addition for my classic's shelf.

When was the last time you bought a new book?
