Sleep Well* || With Groupon

I've written quite a few posts about how to get a good night's sleep. And that's because, I really fucking love sleep. It's the best part of my day, to be honest. And when I am awake? I'm thinking about going back to sleep! Sleep, though, does not come easily to all of us. And even the best sleepers (like me) have bad nights. So what can you do to ensure you get the best quality sleep, every night?

1. Sleep on a comfortable mattress. Your mattress should be supportive and comfortable. The recommended life expectancy of a mattress is 8-10 years. 2. Have a relaxing bedtime routine. Alert your mind and body to the fact that it's time to switch off and go to sleep by having a relaxing bedtime routine you utilise every night. Whether this is a few chapters before bed with a glass of warm milk, or a warm bath with lavender scents. This relaxing bedtime routine can be whatever you want it to be.

3. Design your perfect sleep environment. Experts recommend a temperature of between 60 and 67 degrees. Your bedroom should also be free from noise and light. Invest in a blackout blind, or blackout curtains, to keep the light out. White Noise Machines are great for blocking out any background noise.

4. Avoid naps. It can be very tempting to rest your head on a pillow in the afternoon and shut your eyes for just an hour, or two. But naps may result in you struggling to get off to sleep come bedtime. So although power napping may help get you through the day, by cutting out the catnaps, you'll be better off in the long run.

5. If you can't sleep, get up and go do something relaxing until you feel tired. Take your book downstairs to the sofa, and spend ten minutes getting lost in a chapter or two. Practice some mindfulness. Enjoy some colouring in. Anything peaceful and relaxing. As soon as you start to feel tired again, head back to bed.
