A Day In My Life

Let me start this post by saying; my life is not that exciting! I work from home, three days a week. The other two days of the week, I spend catching up on chores, spending time with friends and family, reading or gaming. And on the weekend, well, much of the same to be honest. But since it's been nearly three whole years since I last posted an "A Day In My Life" blog post, I thought it was about time I share an updated one! This post documents a working from home day in my life. Enjoy!

I've got to start my day with a cup of coffee! I only allow myself to have one cup of coffee a day, as too much caffeine tends to give me a migraine. I always look forward to my morning coffee though! I try to squeeze in a few chores before starting work; sticking a wash on, pushing the vacuum around or giving the bathrooms a quick wipe-over.

I've recently begun having a multi-vitamin drink in the morning. These Re-energise tablets from Boots are basically a cheaper version of Berocca, and they do seem to be helping improve both my energy levels and my physical health!

In order to feel like I'm on top of things and not get totally overwhelmed, I take ten minutes to sit down with my coffee and Filofax and plan for both the day and the week ahead. Making a to-do list, scheduling in appointments, and planning out blog content for the next week or two always makes me feel like I have everything under control, even if I really don't!

It really irritates me that none of these photos are the same size. But not enough to make me do anything about it. I'm a very amateur photographer, and the words are more important to me than the photos (controversial opinion, I know!)

After planning out my week, and enjoying my cup of coffee, it's time to crack on with some work. I'm a Marketing Assistant for a small software company. This involves managing their social media accounts and publishing content, as well as social selling. I start my day by writing and scheduling content for social media, then crack on with some messaging. I usually watch TV or YouTube whilst working. I'm addicted to vlogs about unsolved murders/paranormal experiences at the moment.

Lunch time! I'm loving these Attak a Snak packs at the moment. I buy them in bulk and they make the perfect light lunch. Copious amounts of decaf tea are consumed throughout the working day, naturally!

The rest of the day is filled with work work work work work work. And when 5pm comes, it's time to cook the tea (if we're not having takeaway, or going to the pub, which happens far more often it should!)

I spend one evening a week blogging; I can usually get a week's worth of blog posts and tweets scheduled in an evening. With that out of the way, it's time to indulge in my two main hobbies; gaming and reading. I'll either play The Sims 4 or Far Cry 5 for a few hours. And then retire with my book to bed.

And that's my day. Pretty anticlimactic, huh? I wish I had something more interesting to share with you, but I always find that the interesting days tend to go undocumented, because I'm too busy enjoying them to take photos. Anyone else?

What does your typical day look like?

  1. I love these posts where you get to learn about how others spend their days. I'm really interested in how you found a working from home marketing role, as I would love to find the same thing. Do you have any tips? Thanks heaps, and love your book reviews.

    1. Oh gosh - tbh, I think I just got lucky. Keep searching the job markets - working from home marketing roles are becoming much more common!

  2. First off I love your unicorn mug. Also.. as a fellow Sim 4 lover, just seeing that you play makes me want to play right now. Life stops when I play the Sims though. I end up forgetting about myself and my little Sim family takes priority! It was nice to read about a day in your life ♥

    1. I'm totally the same - forget to look after myself whenever I'm looking after my family.

  3. I'm impressed that you can get a whole week's worth of blog posts written and scheduled in one evening! Takes me forever as I'm too much of a perfectionist. I keep playing around with the wording and syntax even after a post is finished, and proof read it 500 times. I 100% agree with you that words are more important than pictures but as a writer (and not much of a photographer) I would, wouldn't I? x

  4. Seriously? I'm so jealous you can play Sims haha (my laptop is too weak to support the game and it's just an awesome game!!)
I guess you plan your days well if you manage to get everything done and blog too. Nice!
