An interview with...Angel wings and petticoats!

It has been a long time since the last installment of my "An Interview With..." series. Almost two months, I think... Bad blogger! I don't know how this series slipped away from me, to be honest. Probably in the same way time has. Who else can't wrap their head around the fact that we're almost into August now? Freakin' August?! Unreal. Anyway, I'm back (hopefully every month for the rest of this year, now!) with another interview with a blogger who I love, and have a lot of respect for; Alex of Angel wings and petticoats! Over to you, Alex...

1. Hi Alex! First of all, tell me a little bit about yourself and your blog?
Hi Aimee :) I'm a laid back normal weird girl, studying for a degree in Classics, and a HUGE bookworm! My blog has kind of got two sides to it; part of it is my little hobby, talking about books, and my gorgeous gerbils. But then the other more serious part is my experience with Schizophrenia.

2. And what inspired you to start Angel wings and petticoats?
When Schizophrenia was first mentioned to me by the Doc, I went looking for a blog, or something about it, so I could have a better idea of what to expect. I found that there wasn’t really anything out there, and definitely nothing about the form which I have. That was my main inspiration for the blog, but also I’ve always loved writing.

3. What are your favourite types of posts to read?
I have two main favourites. Firstly I love book posts! Be it reviews or hauls, I just love them- to be fair I love anything to do with books. My second favourite, are more lifestyle based, hearing how people are overcoming challenges- I like posts to have a ‘feel good’ air about them.

4. How has blogging changed your life?
Number one its changed the career path I want to go down, but secondly it’s made me a lot more open about myself and my condition. Before this I did not talk about how I felt, and how my illness affected me, now I’m happy to talk about almost every aspect of it. Plus it has motivated me to make a difference.

5. What has been the highlight of your blogging career so far?
My blogging career has been a short one so far. But I still can’t believe I have followers, getting my first follower, and now TEN has to be my highlight. Though getting published in another website also pretty amazing!

6. If you could give one piece of advice to new bloggers, what would it be?
Make the most of the support you get from the blogging community, and whatever you do, do not be afraid to spread the word of your blog! Scream and shout, and tell the online world about it, you won’t get anywhere by not saying anything. But most importantly, HAVE FUN!

7. So, what do you hope for the future of Angel wings and petticoats?
I am really hoping to start working with some larger organisation to help get the word out there, so watch out for announcements on my blog ;)

8. And what are your own personal life goals?
I have 3 main goals, all of which probably seem a bit boring! But I really want to pass my driving test, get back to payed employment, and lose weight. Currently working towards all three.

9. Besides blogging, what are you passionate about?
I LOVE to read! If I not writing, I’m probably reading. Besides that, check Costa, or the gerbil cage- you can normally find me by one of them.
On another level, I’m highly passionate about raising awareness about Schizophrenia and mental health in general, planning to do a lot more this year all with this aim.

10. Finally, tell me three random things about you?!
Ooo this is hard,  I’m rather boring.. I’m terrified of creepy crawlies
I’m just 5ft2, and not grown since I was 11 yrs old.
I have a nerve issue with my eye, that could be all because of my wisdom tooth sitting on said nerve- bizarre I know ;)
