An Interview With...The Twenty Third!

I can't quite believe this is the third installment in my "An Interview With..." series in 2016! Where is the year going? Slow down, already! Anyway, this month, I'm interviewing the fabulous Jess of Inked and Blonde! I've been following Jess's blog for months, now, and I love, and can relate to, so many of her blog posts. Now, here's Jess to tell you more!

1. Hi Jess! First of all, tell me a little bit about yourself and your blog?

Hey, I’m Jess and I’m a blogger from Essex. I’ve always been in to reading and writing, but I only really started blogging in my last year of Uni. Since then I’ve graduated from UEA and I recently started working on Inked and Blonde.

2. And what inspired you to start Inked and Blonde?

I started following other bloggers and YouTubers, like Tati Westbrook and Elle Fowler, when I got really ill about 18 months ago. I loved watching them, but noticed there were no blogs or channels based on art or art history. Combine this with the “wow, that sounds dull” response I got every time I told someone I had an art history degree, and Inked and Blonde was born.

3. What type of posts do you like to read?

Anything with organisation or planning tips! I became completely addicted to stickers and planners last January (I have 3 for 2016!) and I’m always looking for tips on how to decorate them and stay organised.

4. How has blogging changed your life?

Oh My God so much! I’d always wanted to write, so I finally grew a pair and quit my job in December to do it full time. Working from home has made me realise how much I love what I do, and how I want my career to progress. If you’re awake working at 7.30 am on Christmas day and enjoying it, you know you have an epic job!

5. What has been the highlight of your blogging career so far?

Reaching 3,000 hits on Blogger. Knowing that my posts had been clicked through that many times really made me realise blogging was definitely for me!

6. If you could give one piece of advice to new bloggers, what would it be?

Ignore everyone else. It’s so easy to feel like crap when your hits slow down, and people can be insanely unsupportive when they find out you go to work in your pyjamas. F**k em, as long as you love what you do, their opinion really doesn’t matter.

7. So, what are your hopes for the future of Inked and Blonde?

2016 is going to be when I really push my YouTube channel. I’m aiming for 100 followers by this time next year.

8.  And what are your own, personal life goals?

This year? Be selfish! I’ve had a really difficult couple of years so 2016 is going to be an entire year of me!

9. Besides blogging, what are you passionate about?

Promoting awareness for Borderline Personality Disorder. I was diagnosed a year ago and there is absolutely no information or support anywhere online. I’ve been blogging and vlogging about my experiences since October, and I’ve gotten a great response so far. Hopefully I’m helping people learn a bit more about this relatively unknown condition.

10. Finally, tell me three facts about yourself?

            1) Until I was 16 I thought that koala bears didn’t have spines (as in they had no back                  bone).

            2) When I interned at Grazia over the summer I pitched an idea to the Editor-in-Chief, and           she loved it so much she commissioned it for a feature and it was printed in the magazine.

            3) When I was little I wanted to be able to breath through my toes, to make it easier to                  breath when I was swimming.

It's been lovely interviewing you, Jess. Thank you for taking the time out to talk to me. I'm looking forward to watching your blog continue to grow!

Next month I'll be interviewing the lovely Fiona, of Wishes, Hopes and Dreams!
