An interview with...The Flower That Blooms!

In this fourth interview in a series featuring interviews with awesome bloggers, I'm interviewing the lovely Rachel and Lauren, of The Flower That Blooms! Rachel and Lauren are sisters who blog together, and some of their loves include Lush and Disney! Their blog contains an assortment of reviews, advice, haul posts and so much more. I love their beauty posts, of which there are many.
And now, here's Rachel and Lauren to tell you more in their own words...

1. Hi Lauren & Rachel! First of all, tell me a little bit about yourselves and your blog?

Lauren - For those who don't already know, we're two sisters who blog together! We've always been close, Rachel is like my best friend so it's pretty cool. I'm currently studying Sport at University whilst working part time which can be super tiring, how I find time to blog I'll never know!
Rachel - Our blog name comes from a quote in 'Mulan' as we're both huge Disney fans and we blog about all kinds of stuff like beauty products, food and life. A big hobby of mine is photography which I'm hoping to study at University. It's a big part of blogging so I love that I can take all of our blog photos!

2. And what inspired you both to start The FlowerThat Blooms?
We'd always been interested in blogs mainly for product reviews. One day we thought 'wouldn't it be cool to start one of our own?!' That being said it took us over a year to actually create The Flower That Blooms. Mainly as we didn't think anybody would want to read about our opinions, turns out quite a few people do!

3. What are your favourite types of posts to write? Do you each have a particular type of post you prefer writing?
Lauren - For me I love writing advice posts or 'Day In The Life' posts. I love helping people so if one person can take something from one of our advice posts and use it I'm happy! 'Day In The Life' posts are cool as you can show people what you've been up to and we can look back and relive our experiences!
Rachel- I love writing about products, particularly Lush! I just find it so fun and know it could be helpful to a few people! I also love writing more personal sorts of post about our lives or what we've done on a day out. I feel that we can use our blog as a kind of diary which is cool!

4.  How has blogging changed your lives?
Lauren - If I'm honest it's made my life a bit hectic but that's not a bad thing; it's good to be busy. Also blogging has made me feel like I finally have somewhere I belong. I've never felt like I fitted in really well until now! I've spoken to so many different bloggers, many who I'd class as friends, and that's one of the best feelings.
Rachel- As Lauren said it's been hectic and a lot busier. I feel like it gives me something to do when I'm bored though! I've also made a few amazing friends who we talk to all the time and I really feel like I know them personally!

5. What has been the highlight of your blogging career so far?
Lauren - It's a recent one but working with Lauren who's a fellow blogger making handmade products. She kindly sent us two items and I loved the fact that we could try them for her and give her some advice whilst showing other people her fab items!
Rachel- Working with Lauren was really cool! We'd never received a free product before then and it was lovely to try out her amazing products! We both felt honoured that she wanted us to review her products. We also got 1000 Twitter followers not long ago and it feels great that our posts are hopefully helping a few of those!

6. If you could both give one piece of advice to new bloggers, what would it be?
Lauren - Communicate with others. I feel like that's a golden rule! Without our group of blogger pals I'd feel super lost. I know I have Rachel but having more people you can share experiences with and get support from is great.
Rachel- Join in with blogger chats and make friends. Also read other people's blog posts and leave nice comments. I feel that you shouldn't just expect people to read your blog and not bother to read anybody else's. You can learn a lot from other people!

7. So, what do the two of you hope for the future of The Flower That Blooms?
We really hope that our following can continue to grow and that we continue to have people out there who enjoy reading our stuff. We never thought we'd get this far but it just shows anything is possible. Oh and also, we'd love to help others with our advice posts and even our reviews!

8. And what are your own personal life goals? Do you have any in common?
Lauren - I really want to graduate University with a 1st or a 2:1 and become a teacher. It's something I've wanted ever since I was younger so I'll feel like all the hard work will be worth it.
Rachel- I'm hoping to go to University after I finish college. I'm not too sure what I want to do after that but I hope Uni will help me decide!

9. Besides blogging, what are you both passionate about? Do you share a lot of interests?
Lauren - I've always enjoyed reading, although when I'm at Uni I don’t get a lot of time to do that! I love going to gigs, anything Disney and I do love baking although I'm not a big cake fan.
Rachel- I love seeing live music, obviously I enjoy photography, baking, blogging and being around animals!!
We do share quite a lot of interests. We like the same kind of music, Disney, we love baking and of course we love blogging!

10. Finally, leave us with one random fact about each of you?
Lauren - Oooh that's a toughie! Erm I have one tattoo (currently) of a triad with the word 'dreams' underneath. It has multiple meanings to me, one being that it's a symbol that my favourite band, 30 Seconds To Mars, use a lot!
Rachel- I'm a huge WWE fan! I have a tonne of merchandise and I've been to quite a few live shows. A blogger pal of ours, Sarah, also likes it so it's really cool that I share that interest with her!

Rachel, Lauren, it's been a pleasure interviewing you both. Thanks for taking the time out to do this. I look forward to seeing what the future brings for your blog!

Next month, I'll be interviewing Justine, of Girl Gone Dreamer. Before then, I'll be here on Friday to tell you what I've been reading this month!

Take care, beauties <3
